Problem Solving

In problem solving we are learning about proportions and ratios. We have been doing this for about the last 3 weeks with room 16. We all really enjoy doing it. I have learnt problems like 35 ÷ 7

Here is the question: Keahn invited 35 guests to his birthday party, however only 5/7 of the guests were able to come. How many guests were able to attend?

Here is my thinking:

35 divided by 7 = 5 (This shows one seventh)
5/7 of 35 = 25
5 x 5=25

I did this with Lachie and Ethan, Ethan is from Room 16.

Water Safety

 Do's

Do put the youngest in the middle.
Do try and keep warm.
Do  keep calm when you fall into the water.

Don'ts

Don't freak out when you fall into the water.

Don't rush to an island if you see one just stay in one group.
Don't swim off.

This week and last week we had swimming  lessons. Today the 21st we went into the lane pool and got split into 2 groups. One group went on the boat and the other group did the huddle. I
was in the huddle group. The important things to remember are not to go off if you are in a group.  Don't freak out when you fall into the water just keep calm.

The Journey

The light shone in my eyes as i walked onto stage.
Nervously i clapped my hands.
I felt like pro skateboarder about to do a double back flip.
I felt the cool beat beneath my feet as I danced.
I looked at my friends and smiled. Finally it’s over.
Now we have to sing.
After our show we all went back to class and got
changed into our clothes.

Why I like the Production.
I like the production because it unique and
different to some other Schools. It was fun learning
about Brazil and some other continents

Art Gallery And Museum Trip

On Wednesday the class and I went on a trip to the art gallery and the museum we went to the art gallery first we learnt about the Maori chiefs that were sketched in the 1800s. We did some art we made our own waka hui  - the box the chief would hang from rafters to keep his hui feathers safe. Stalks of toi toi are helped to make a type of maori art which was one of the things that saw. The museum we learnt about the sun did you know that the sun is filled with a type of gas and it is going to explode in billions of years. Then we went to the solar system area I personally liked the thing that shows you how long it would take you to get to the moon running and the virtual reality headset as well then we went to a classroom in the museum and made solar powered cars. The one that our group made was called Jimmy the Jimster.

This is me waiting in line for the Virtual reality headset

It took me 1525 days to get to the moon

This is the solar powered car that our group made.

Thank you Keahn.

Poetry.

Poetry
In writing I have used a poem by James K. Baxter as a starting point to write my own holiday poem. I hope you like it.

Keahn's James K baxter poem

The lake was usual enough;
It had calm cool water, cars, people, wet towels and even a kayak.
My  Aunty, Mum and I did what swimmers  do -
Swimming, eating, running, diving, and bombing
Doing nothing important.
